Dragonborn

The Dragonborn were created as slaves in service to the Dragons of old. With the death of their masters, they have struggled to rebuild some semblance of society. Fleeing to the far south, they have organized themselves into clans based on their allegiances during the conflict, revering whatever dragon they served during the wars. Dragonborn are humanoid in a sense, blending together the appearances of other mortal races with the unique features of their own dragon overlords. Dragon priests are the ruling elite of their society, guiding the clans by interpreting their own ideas of how to further the dragons agenda. Some Dragonborn are present among the Sekani in the ruins of the Comati lands, living there as mercenaries or labourers. A few of these have made their way into the port cities of the human realms, though they are rare at best.

History

The Dragonborn were made to bolster the Dragons forces during the War of Ancients. When they were entombed beneath the earth, so too were many of their progeny. Upon reawakening, the Dragons set about expanding their armies, spawning more and more Dragonborn to throw against the Dwarves and other mortal races. Each dragon created their own Dragonborn, imbuing them with elements of themselves during their creation, and having complete mastery over their clan. Under their masters guidance, the Dragonborn conquered Dwarfhold after Dwarfhold, unmaking the vast empire the Dwarves had created. Much of their greatest holdings in the south were left in ruin, shattering their population and robbing them of their races greatest accomplishments. At the height of their conquest, the Dragons were toppled by infighting, and were never able to recover their momentum. The remainder were killed by the Dwarves, some while fleeing or others trying to defend their latest conquests. Leaderless and without direction, the Dragonborn were driven from the mountains. They fled south, searching for a land to call their own. They ended up in the jungles beyond the Comati lands, able to claim them for themselves. Here they organized themselves into various clans, decided by their allegiance and patron dragon. Worshipping their creators as gods, they await the day when they will return and lead them to the great victory that was promised.

Description

Dragonborn are not necessarily a unified race in terms of appearance. Most are humanoid, sharing elements with whatever dragon created and shaped them. Many of the more monstrous versions have snake-like lower bodies, supporting strong torsos with multiple arms. Great vicious maws rip and tear at their opponents, while their arms wield multiple weapons at once. Others are more resembling the mortal races, moulded into a mockery of their opponents. Great bipedal lizards, these are the more common types of Dragonborn found among the other races. They are excellent labourers, using their strength and lack of individuality to their advantage.
